Lego Chair

April 24, 2021June 15, 2021 admin

For this project I build a chair out of lego that could support a person.

This is what it ended up looking like.

Also the chair was strong enough to support my own weight, as shown in the picture below:

Building the chair was pretty simple but took a lot of work. The legs were eight lego bricks wide. The seat combined lego boards and lego bricks. Overall this was a really fun project. See more details in the following video:

Lego Office Tower

December 19, 2020December 20, 2020 admin

I built this Lego office tower with the help of my kids. It is about 6 ft 6 inches tall. We built the lower levels to be a solid color, but it became hard to find bricks so the higher level are a mix-match of colors. We add lego mini-figures to each level as well.

Overall this was really fun to make! The following video provides more details.

Full size Lego Man!

April 19, 2020April 19, 2020 admin

For this project I (along with my kids) made a full size Lego man made out of Lego. We made the head out of yellow Lego (the interior which can’t be seen wasn’t yellow though). For the rest of the body we just used whatever Lego we had available as we didn’t have the Lego sorted by color. I didn’t have any good Lego to serve as the hands, so the arms and hands are a little clunky. Overall I am pretty happy with how it turned out!

Here is a video summarizing the Lego man and how he was built.

10 foot tall Lego Tower

February 25, 2020February 25, 2020 admin
Here is the finished Lego Tower (10 feet tall)

For this project I built a 10 foot tall Lego Tower. The Tower was built with the widest section at the bottom and the thinnest section at the top, ending in an antenna. The widest section is an 8 by 8 square, and it decreases to a 6 x 6, then 4 x 4, then 2 x 2 and finally 1 x 1 square.

I made the tower over a series of weeks and it was a lot of fun. One issue I ran into was that I started running out of bricks which were not 1 x 1 or oddly shaped, so I bought some Lego equivalent blocks on Amazon. The best deal I could find was 1,000 blocks for $17. This set is really good, as the vast majority of the bricks are 2 x 2 or larger. Other sets of blocks advertise having a lot of blocks (1,000 or more) but most of the bricks are 1 x 1 so they are not that useful for building. The set I found can be found on Amazon here:
